Character Basics:
Character Name: Kol (fake last name) Mikaelson
Journal: [personal profile] iniquity
Age: 22 in appearance || 1000+ in reality (probably closer to 1500+ due to Viking era arrival to North America)
Fandom: The Vampire Diaries (TV)
Canon Point: Post his exit of Mystic Falls. Prior to his arrival in Mystic Falls in 4x10.
Debt:

Using the same formula that was used for Klaus and Rebekah Kol has a pre-canon debt of 486,679 years. However, in light of the fact that Kol was more reckless and had less discretion over the years, as well as the fact that he was not with his family for a great deal of the time that he was in Eastern Europe, I have added an additional 10,000 years for his deeds of murder, mayhem, causing destruction, vandalism, torture, compulsion, fraud, and other misc. acts of violence. This brings his pre-canon debt to 496,679 years.

Class A: 25 years
+ 25 counts murder - Mary Porter (seen in canon), plus other various people he killed during his stay in Mystic Falls, plus during his stalking of Jeremy

Class B: 109 years and 6 months

+ 100 counts coercion - any and all compulsions committed while in Mystic Falls or Colorado
+ 15 counts fraud - pretending to be a college student to Jeremy, any of Jeremy's classmates, other people in public places where he was seen with Jeremy, etc.
+ 2 counts assault with a baseball bat to Damon Salvatore
+ 1 count assault without a weapon to Matt Donovan
+ 100 counts assault without a weapon to anyone he fed on during his stay in Mystic Falls and/or Colorado
+ 1 count stalking of Jeremy Gilbert

Class C: 2 months

+ 1 count harassment to Meredith Fell
+ 1 count trespassing on property of the deceased (Mary Porter)

    Canon Character Section:
    History: Kol @ TVD Wiki

    Personality:
Being the middle child has not helped Kol's personality at all. Rather than being favored or reprimanded, Kol was often overlooked. This gave him a unique situation where he could easily do whatever he pleased and never worry that it was going to be paid too much attention to. Which is the main reason why he is the way he is.

For the most part, Kol is an exaggeration of a gentleman. Having been daggered in the 1900s, he's been raised through the varied eras, adapting each time to the changes that the times brought. He's able to play the kind-hearted, doe-eyed young man that is polite and capable of speaking kindly to those around him. However, it's mostly a ploy to simply get him in closer to his intended prey. His manners, his effortlessness in being charming and ridiculously suave are all tools that he uses to gain confidences and intimacies with his intended victims. Even with his intentions being masked by his actions, he's still capable of being polite and reserved.

Most of his polite and reserved moments are often at the behest of others, though. Begrudgingly loyal to his family, he places them on an internal ranking of sorts within his own mind. Rebekah, the one who he sees as the easiest to impress upon, is always going to come first when it comes to how he chooses his actions and his loyalty. Even when he's teasing her and poking at her dalliances, he does it with the thought that he knows she'll still come back to family and that is one of the things that endears her to him more than anything else. Her loyalty, in a way, shapes his own. Knowing that she can always return gives him the freedom to come and go as he pleases, which through his history he has done more than a few times.

His relationship with the rest of his family isn't as simple. Despite loyalty to Klaus, he also feels as though he is trapped within that level of trust. Neither of them trusts the other, with Kol being more than aware of the 100 years he spent daggered at his brother's hand and Klaus more than aware of Kol's lack of civility when it comes to his path of destruction.

The rest of his family, even Elijah to an extent, seems to be secondary to him. There is a sense of rivalry over them, but it's not a driving force for him. They were mostly missing from their day to day lives and with Kol being daggered the last out of the family, that puts him to be the third wheel to Klaus and Rebekah, when he wasn't off on his own. (My personal belief is that Kol was daggered before Klaus and Rebekah arrived in Chicago - that Klaus used the "sudden disappearance" of Kol from their side to push Rebekah into a new environment.)

His relationship with Rebekah also is the start of his streak of jealousy. Some of that is from being the middle child, but a lot of it revolves around Rebekah and the closeness that their family has had for so long. He sees his family as superior to others, so he doesn't believe anyone can actually be good enough for his sister. Another source of his jealousy - to think that she thinks these people are good enough for her - which is seen easily when she opts to save Matt and when she sleeps with Damon.

Given that for most of his life Kol believed that his father had killed his mother and that he was also looking to end their entire existence, his relationship with his dad is strained. There is a lack of trust there and with him lacking any sort of reunion or resolution to that relationship, Kol has mostly internalized the fact that there is no chance for him to forgive his father or to be able to be looked at in a different light. Kol still didn't have a very close relationship with his father to begin with, so having him missing for over a thousand years isn't any different than knowing he died recently.

One of the biggest things to consider about Kol is his manner of killing. He's never been one for distance and with all of his manners and his charming smile, it's clear that he is definitely someone who wants things to be up close and personal. His weapon of choice is something that will take a long time, allowing him to feed during the process as well as enjoy the excruciating pain that he's handing out. Beating Damon with a bat, killing Mary in her own home, crushing Matt's hand (and possibly contemplating tossing him over the balcony) are all examples of injuries that aren't fatal, but cause a lot of pain.

When it comes to his abilities, being an Original and being a vampire, he's not shy about using his strength to his advantage. It ties into his preference for the up-close and personal method of violence. However, his preference to get close to his victim also means that he has a great deal of control over his bloodlust. He doesn't allow his urges to press to the surface, regardless of the amount of blood that is around him. He's never seen "in canon" feeding, nor do you see his vamp face at all in canon. It's not because he doesn't like that side of him, but it's more than likely because he prefers to keep his destructive and malicious methods separate from his actual vampirism. This brings him up to an almost crueler sort of monster, because he doesn't use the excuse that he is a natural predator.

He spent a lot of his time off on his own, carving is own path through Eastern Europe and then North America. He is not known for his discretion and was possibly more brutal and violent than his siblings, which drew attention that did not do his name very well. It's probable that every time the word spread around that there was a monster/serial killer/vampire running around, he simply returned to Klaus and Rebekah in order to fall back under their more discreet killing and feeding methods.

Kol can be reckless, which goes hand in hand with his methods of killing. He can also be seen as someone who is blunt and slightly crass, opting to say whatever is on his mind without worrying that he's being rude. We see this easily when he comments about Caroline when she walks away and when he presses Rebekah on her walk of shame when returning from Damon.

He's more than likely the one that is often the easiest to get to do things, despite his tendency to be slightly unreasonable. Klaus uses him to keep tabs on Jeremy and his desire for independence and a larger leash is what motivates him to take up the task. It also helps him retain that undaggered status, which once more ends up lining up with his lack of trust for his brother. He's not always going to go along with the main plan, but that's just his preference to do things his way instead of going along with the rest of the family. Seriously, his family is kind of messed up. He often thinks he was adopted.

    Powers/Abilties:

+ Enhanced Abilities: Hearing, Strength, Senses, Agility, Speed, and Healing
+ Mind Control: Via Compulsion he is able to plant suggestions/memories/commands with simple eye contact
+ Immortality: He retains his youthful appearance regardless of how long he's been around
+ Dream Manipulation: Creeping in your dreams, hanging out, the usual...
+ Being ridiculously good looking: Makes panties drop.

    Weaknesses:

    + whiskey
+ Vervain: those on vervain cannot be compelled, and the herb can burn them.
+ Daylight: without his ring, he can't be out in the sunlight
+ White Oak: If it goes into his chest, he dies. Then everyone he ever sired and everyone they ever sired and so on... dies too.
+ Magical Dagger tipped with White Oak Ash: If it goes into his chest, he petrifies and goes into a sleep stasis of sorts. Removing it will awaken him.
+ Wooden Stake: Kinda hurts. Not fatal.
+ Magic/Witchcraft: The right spell with a powerful witch can impact him. (Dessication, slowing of his heart, body transference)
+ Werewolf Venom: Not fatal, not even gross injury making. It simply acts as a hallucinogenic toxin that weakens him and makes him see things that aren't there. The symptoms fade over time and eventually his healing will push the toxin out of his system.
+ Invitation: He does still need to be invited in order to be in a residence of someone else. If he is brought into a home where he was not invited, the air/space is not for him and he could suffocate. (That won't kill him though, just make him pass out and then it'll start over and over again.)

Appearance: Rugged good looks are something that seems to come naturally to the Mikaelson family. Despite his time spent with a dagger in his chest, Kol has adapted rather quickly to the modern society. His brunette hair is styled in a short, but modern way - using product to gain the necessary "lift and hold" that it seems girls like these days. He's usually wearing dark and/or muted colors. Dark blue jeans, beige/gray shirts and has a fondness for peacoats. He carries himself with a bit more pride than ego, despite his ego and remains instilled with the politeness and manners when it comes to greeting members of the opposite sex, though there is also a great deal of expectation that comes with his manners.

He should care. Honestly, he should be paying a lot more attention, but he's distracted by a brunette in a gold dress across the way from him. His smile has been, at the very least, keeping her attention far more than his brother droning on about decorum and maintaining a low profile. He's well aware that their father has been keeping better tabs on them, but he's not sure why it matters. Their father should be keeping his distance. Patriarch of the family or not, he still killed their mother. He should be hiding from them. Fearing for his life, instead he's trailing them and Kol has made it a light game of cat and mouse. Light as in he's left a few more bodies scattered across the Midwest, which is probably what this lecture is about.

A waitress moves to check on the order of the girl he's been watching, blocking his view from her. Not wanting to linger on the curves of the less than desirable waitress, his attention returns back to his brother. Lifting his eyebrows, he reaches for his glass, "Of course, I will." He replies without actually knowing what he's just agreed to. Rebekah seems amused, but Klaus is not thrilled at all.

Sipping his whiskey he endures the ranting of his brother, expressing how 'disappointed' he is with his behavior, his lack of attentiveness, and so on and so forth. He nods along with the second lecture of the evening, intending to join the girl in the gold dress, but trying to be at least slightly accommodating to his brother's requests.

"I... solemnly swear to be home before curfew, brother," Kol's tone is more than slightly patronizing. "However, I will have to insist that this discussion be placed on hold. I believe I have to accompany that lovely lady home."

He glances over to her once more, smiling again and then with a subtle nod she seems to almost light up. It's far too simple. His gaze shifts back to his siblings, "Are we done?" Kol doesn't wait for his brother's response, he simply stands from the table and removes himself from their company.

Crossing the room, he carries his drink with him, holding the glass in one hand, "I was sitting over there wondering how you could possibly be alone and I thought, it would be much better if I gave you some attention before you left thinking no one was concerned for your well-being."

There is no doubt in his mind that her well-being will be under his care for the next few hours, at the very least.
